A Gem

Luna Azul is a rare gem of a boutique hotel. Very private & beautiful grounds. Comfortable quiet suites. Excellent cuisine – tasty simple breakfasts and gourmet dinners. Friendly courteous staff who clearly enjoy and take pride in their endeavours. Rolf is an exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful host. The dolphin/snorkeling excursion was a lot of fun. So was the ATV activity. We were lucky enough to also experience guided Turtle hatching. All of which Rolf organized for us. A car is a must to enjoy the surrounding area & beaches. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Hotel Luna Azul. Enjoy!

I stayed 2 days there with my kids and another family. Everything was perfect, the shower outside, the pool, the view, the wifi and AC. And omg the food! By far the best meals we had in Costa Rica! The owner was very nice to us and gave us great tips and arrange our tour for the turtle. We brought whole pineapple and papaya to the waiter and they cut it and gave it to our kids. The staff was nice and the place was clean. It’s hard to get there, but once you are there, it’s worth it and you instantly relax. The property is very well taken care of, they maintain the garden very well. I will definitely go back if I ever come back to Costa Rica!

We only stayed one night at Hotel Luna Azul but it was so magical that we have been trying to figure out when we can come back again. Rolf was incredibly knowledgeable and so fun to chat with. We learned so much about the area and especially the turtles. While we discovered that (despite what the internet says) full moons are NOT the optimal time to see an arribada, we were still able to visit Ostional and see a couple tracks in the morning as well as one of the most beautiful sunrises of my life.
