Beach & Surf
Hotel Luna Azul is very close to the beautiful beaches of Ostional (1 km) with excellent surfing conditions, close to Playa San Juanillo (3,5 km) and to 4 romantic tropical bays protected by a reef, 3 of them with white and one with black sand. The excellent surfer’s beach Playa Guiones in Nosara is a 25 minute drive from Luna Azul.
North of all the other spots is Playa Marbella, a chill beach with a couple of breaks that are good for both beginners and more experienced surfers. Playa Marbella is pretty empty most days except for other surfers and the only thing to watch out for are the riptides that can get strong. While Playa Marbella is a bit hard to find, it’s worth the effort for this fun, consistent wave.
This adventure offers you both inshore and offshore fishing and lets you spot sea turtles and dolphins. Boat trips on the ocean depart from San Juanillo town where the water is more tranquil. It’s a popular spot to moor fishing boats and local pangas.
The activity takes place with a captain that speaks English and Spanish. The years of experience of the local guide assure you the fishing adventure of a lifetime.
